The Suburban Building-based Wayne Bar hosted its official grand opening on Dec. 6, introducing its local coffee-doughnut-ice cream concept to area-wide fanatics.
Co-owned by Brad Liermann, the addictive cafe creates a hybrid between the neighborhood coffee and doughnut counter and the one at an ice cream parlour. While killer cups of pour-over coffee are available morning and night, Wayne Bar proclaims 7–11 a.m. prime java and donut time, and reopens from 3–8 p.m. for its evening ice cream hours.
Inside, the North Wayne Avenue basement cafe is stylized as vintage chic (mint-topped science stools, large-format chalkboards, narrow wooden bookcases) and acts as a melting pot for all of the area’s finest purveyors. The best local products are hand-selected and restocked fresh daily.
Expect the following neighborhood imports available at your fingertips: Philadelphia’s GreenStreet Coffee, ReAnimator espresso, and Little Baby’s Ice Cream; West Chester’s Dia Doce cupcakes, and a range of doughnuts from Chester’s Phatso’s Bakery, Bridgeport’s Suzy Jo Donuts and Lancaster’s Lydia Mae’s.
Find The Wayne Bar at 134 N. Wayne Ave. Hours are set seasonally. For more info, visit thewaynebar.com.
