Beer drinkers in Berwyn will be getting a new place to taste local brews when La Cabra Brewing opens its doors this summer. The brewery will be located in a historic building at 642 Lancaster Avenue, directly across from the Berwyn train station. Vern Burling, Andy Iott and Dan Popernack are the owners of this endeavor, and also the brewers. The building, which dates back to the late 1800s when it served as a general store, is being renovated by Chris Linton, who also had a hand in the construction of Conshohocken Brewing Company and Tired Hands Brewing Company.
Popernack, who has been a longtime home brewer, specializes in sour beers, but La Cabra will be producing other varieties, as well. In addition to beer, they will be serving foods, with a menu focused on Latin flavors, including tacos and smoked meats. For non-beer drinkers, there will be a list of Pennsylvania wines to choose from.
