“We started offering all-you-can-eat hard-shell crabs on Wednesdays at EAT, our pop-up venue in Northern Liberties, and the response has been so incredible that Howard and I decided to incorporate a similar deal at Verdad through the summer,” Farina says. In addition to enjoying this fiesta on Friday nights, crab lovers can feast on hard shells any night of the week by ordering the crabs 24 hours in advance.
A large portion of Verdad’s renovation has been focused on opening the restaurant up and making it a contiguous space between the dining rooms and bar. Farina and Taylor removed the five bar booths and built a new banquette in its place, reupholstered the existing banquettes, replaced all of the restaurant’s carpet with oak hardwood floors, opened up the dining room in the front of the building and added a sliding barn door to provide an element of private dining on the first floor. The team also knocked down the walls between the bar and the restaurant’s main dining room to configure a larger first floor dining space, which has increased the number of seats from 90 to 100.
In addition to the physical changes, Farina and Taylor updated the restaurant’s color palette from yellow and copper to a rich burgundy with dark wood and installed a new 30-bottle wine gallery to house the restaurant’s reserve wines.
Verdad Restaurant & Tequila Bar is open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner and Sunday for dinner only.
