Naial Casanovas Mack Makes Online Returns Easy for Main Liners

The DropUpp founder and Bryn Mawr resident has much to show for his innovative business model.

Now that the holiday season has come and gone, many of us are likely to find ourselves with a pile of online returns and little time for a trip to the UPS store. Enter Naial Casanovas Mack, a native of Barcelona, Spain, who moved to the area after graduating from Montgomery County’s Perkiomen School. In 2022, the Bryn Mawr resident launched DropUpp, a service that picks up online returns at your home and gets them where they need to go. A single pickup is less than $10, or a monthly subscription can be purchased for $10-$25.

MLT: How did your work experience lead to the creation of DropUpp?

NCM: My background, oddly enough, had nothing to do with logistics, returns or tech. I used to own a drone video production business out of high school. Once I started on the idea for DropUpp, I learned how to build a web app from scratch.

MLT: What gave you the initial idea?

NCM: I started with the concept of refurbishing delivery boxes. That would’ve turned out to be very costly, and the unit economics weren’t going to work out. But I’d touched on another issue: returns. Why was it that I could order something to my house with a few clicks on Amazon, but when it was time to return it, it was such a process? Most people don’t realize they’re spending on average 30-50 minutes per return trip. DropUpp eliminates that hassle completely.

MLT: How has the reception to DropUpp been so far?

NCM: At first, some were skeptical about the service. But now that we’ve been out here for a little over two years, word of mouth has spread quite well. Once our customers experience the service for the first time, it really opens their eyes to the value we can add to their daily schedule.

MLT: How does business look now that the holidays are over?

NCM: I’m actively preparing for our highest volume period yet. With retailers offering extended return windows through January and February, I’m scaling up our operation to ensure a seamless service during the post-holiday rush.
