Blast from the Past
After 12 years, Meridith Coyle has brought back Binni & Flynn’s, the iconic local cantina founded by her parents, Richard and Irene. Opened last month, the new B&F’s is in the former home of Aneu Bistro & Wine Bar. Expect the same menu, logo and family-focused atmosphere.
Outside City Limits
Philadelphia heavy hitter Nick Pashalis (Estia, Pietro’s Coal-Oven Pizzeria) is headed to Wynnewood to launch his latest concept. Formerly Buca di Beppo, the 7,200-square-foot location will feature two spaces: a Pietro’s and a more casual Estia spin-off dubbed Estia Taverna. Look for it all in 2014.
On the Road
Locals who love chef Michael Falcone’s Funky Lil’ Kitchen won’t have to trek to Montgomery County much longer. Falcone has traded his funky 28-seater for a food truck. He’s coined the vehicle Heart, and it will continue the locally focused, sustainable approach witnessed nightly at his unconventional suburban BYOB.
Taco Time
Garces alums Tim Spinner and Brian Sirhal—the masterminds behind Cantina Feliz and La Calaca Feliz—are gearing up to launch a mod-Mexican experience on Manayunk’s Main Street. The 65-seat, South Philly-style Taqueria Feliz (think tacos, enchiladas, margaritas and craft beer) is set to debut in early April.
