Shore escape: Strathmere (Memorial Day-Labor Day). “My husband and I grew up spending summers in Strathmere. We met when I was 19 years old and we were working at the Charcoal House in Sea Isle City. It’s wonderful that we now have our own home here.”

Shore traditions: “The Fourth of July parade in Strathmere is one of the best days of the summer. The kids love decorating their bikes, and the whole town participates.” • “The third week in June, 27 of my cousins and their families all rent houses in Strathmere. We started the tradition a few years ago. We look forward to it all year.”
