If someone had told Maria Delany in 2012 that, within five years of opening Louella in Wayne, she’d have two more Main Line shops, she probably would’ve thought them crazy. But a retail hat trick is exactly what Delany has achieved with the 2014 debut of a second boutique in Malvern and a third in Bryn Mawr this past spring. “I didn’t think back then that I would have multiple locations,” says Delany, who lives in Strafford. “But situations presented themselves, and I explored them. I went with my gut feeling that it was the right thing to do.”
On the boutique-centric Main Line, Delany attributes the success of her brand to her moderate price point and customers’ positive shopping experience. “Clothes change how you feel about yourself,” she says. “It’s about looking and feeling your best. That’s the confidence we want to give to our customers.”
Should we expect to see more Louella openings in the future? “Right now, I want to continue to offer fresh, new brands and affordable fashion to my customers,” Delany says. “That’s my focus.”
