Garden Fresh
The annual Brandywine Health Foundation Garden Party returns May 22, featuring the popular Battle of the Berries at Brandywine, which puts Chester County pastry chefs and their fruit-infused desserts on the competitive pedestal. Proceeds benefit the foundation’s work with the Coatesville Youth Initiative and the Health Care Safety Net. Visit brandywinefoundation.org.
Chef Shuffles
John Mims has returned to his former Narberth location to debut Carmine’s Creole Cafe. Meanwhile, back in Phoenixville, he and partner Dominic Tammaro have transformed his former Bridge Street eatery, Daddy Mims’, into Dominic’s Ristorante Italiano, a pasta house with the look of an ancient church.
Brand New Brews
In summer 2013, fresh life will come to the former General Lafayette Inn of Lafayette Hill. Backed by the crew behind South Philadelphia’s Devil’s Den and Manayunk’s Old Eagle Tavern, Barren Hill will offer 30 beer varieties on tap—six brewed in-house. Devil’s Den’s chef Paul Trowbridge will head up the kitchen.
