Spinning Their Wheels

Plenty of cycling enthusiasts will be among the 300,000 fun-seekers getting their fix June 5 at the 27th Annual TD Bank Philadelphia International Championship, as 200 of the world’s top male cyclists conquer 156 miles in the longest-running, single-day UCI Hors Category cycling road race in the United States. Riders must complete 1o laps of a 14.4-mile circuit over the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Kelly Drive and the infamous Manayunk Wall, finishing with three laps in Fairmount Park and around Logan’s Circle. For those serious about seeing the race, the best vantage points are the 23rd Street start/finish line, Logan Square and Lemon Hill. The four-lap Women’s Liberty Classic begins after the men’s race on the same course. Also check out the Philadelphia Cycling Health & Fitness Expo on the parkway and the Wellness Challenge, where amateurs hit the course before the pros. 9 a.m. Visit procyclingtour.com.

Jazz It Up

Al fresco dining and smooth, sultry jazz under the stars set a perfect summer scene at the annual Main Line Jazz & Food Festival on June 11. This year’s noteworthy acts include Philly’s Latin-flavored Ellas y Amigos, plus Bryn Mawr College alum Laura Munich and her fusion ensemble, Métisse. Christopher’s, Georges’ and Flanigan’s Boathouse will be among the local eateries dishing up lunch and dinner. So grab a bite and savor the sounds of the season. Noon-9 p.m. Free. Party Animals

Upwards of 400 animal lovers will honor their furry and feathered friends at the Chester County SPCA’s 24th Annual Forget-Me-Not Gala on June 12. As the sun sets over Marsh Valley Farm, live music, a classic horse-and-carriage parade, vintage automobiles and animal demonstrations will take center stage. Another highlight is the gourmet dinner buffet, catered by Funky Lil’ Kitchen, Carlino’s, Mile High Steak & Seafood and others.
