Saturday Night Fervor

Bryn Mawr College opens its newly renovated Goodhart Hall Feb. 13 with a performance by the groundbreaking dance troupe Urban Bush Women, accompanied by famed choreographer Germaine Acogny and award-winning Senegalese dancer Pape Ibrahima Ndiaye. UBW personifies strength, spirituality and passion with its sharp yet fluid movement in the contemporary works “Les écailles de la mémoire (The scales of memory)” and “Walking with Pearl … African Diaries.” The pairing explores the crossroads of African and U.S. history, while reveling in the purity of African dance. True Colors

Over 1,600 gymnasts from six states—about 1,000 of them from Pennsylvania—will lend a helping hand to women with breast cancer and recent survivors Feb. 26-28. The Pink Invitational~Gymnasts Unite fundraiser spotlights girls ages 6-18 as they take to the balance beam, uneven bars, vault and floor routines. The all-day event also features raffles. On the Grow

This year’s Philadelphia Flower Show goes global with its “Passport to the World” theme. The journey comes alive Feb. 28-March 7 in recreated scenes from Brazil’s Carnival, an intricate Indian wedding ceremony, and the festivals of Singapore, South Africa and New Zealand. Holland’s mesmerizing flower fields are also on the itinerary, plus live entertainment by African singers and Bollywood dancers.
