If you ever dreamed of getting married on a historic Southern estate with a view of Blue Ridge Mountains, the Rosemont Manor in Northern Virginia has created the perfect new space among its rich and storied history of grandeur.
Located on 60-acres in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Rosemont Manor has expanded its offerings as a premier wedding and event venue with the help of local specialty construction company Quarry View Building Group.
Known best as the previous estate of the late Virginia Governor and U.S. Senator Harry Flood Byrd, Sr., Rosemont has hosted presidents including Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon.
Originally the 5,000-acre property was bequeathed to the first High Sheriff of Clarke County, George Horton Norris in the early 1800s. Norris built the manor, which he named “Rose Mont,” as a wedding gift for his bride in 1811. A respite for presidents and celebrities, other esteemed visitors to Rosemont include Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill, John Wayne, and Charles Lindbergh.

Over the two centuries the property changed hands between six families and was most recently purchased by William & Barbara Genda of Clarke County in 2009. Concerned with preserving the estate and making sure it was not lost to development, the Gendas did a full renovation to open the estate to the public for the first time for overnight accommodations, teas, corporate retreats, and as an award-winning Northern VA wedding venue.
But the venue realized the need for additional space to be able to hold more sizable weddings and special events. They turned to Quarry View Building Group, of Lancaster, Pa., known for its extensive experience building large, Amish-style barns.
Rosemont’s owners wanted to make sure the building complemented the property and the existing historic structures. Quarry View relied heavily on visual aids to communicate with the client and used 3D computer aided design (CAD) program to create a virtual model of the wedding barn.

The company built a gambrel-style timber-framed barn with lean-tos on each side and a red, 24-gauge steel roof with three cupola domes. The post and beam barn is illuminated with magnificent chandeliers and a stunning indoor fireplace made with Virginia bluestone.
Surrounded by a private, wooded setting, the new Historic Rosemont Springs features breathtaking 10-foot waterfalls and a garden terrace.
The 7,000-square-foot special events facility includes bridesmaids and groomsmen suites for wedding preparation, a caterer’s kitchen, indoor bathrooms, and plenty of air conditioning and heating for year-round events.
Historic Rosemont Springs opened in March 2019 and accommodates up to 400 guests. Rosemont typically hosts between 50 and 70 weddings per year but hopes to double or triple its bookings with this new space.
