Liz Barker has been in the financial services business her entire career. Last month she added another title to her resume: published author. Her inspirational memoir, Changed By Chance: My Journey of Triumph Over Tragedy, chronicles a five-year stretch of her life where she faced hardships like the death of her young daughter, Lauren.
What made you want to share your story?
First, I think many people who go through what I went through feel the need for closure. Second, I wanted to share these experiences with others to inspire and give hope to those who may be walking the same path.
What was the most fulfilling part of writing the book?
I was really happy that it all came back to me. As I wrote the story, it started flowing back. The best part of writing the book was honoring my daughter’s memory and sharing the life lessons learned. After reading my book, I’d like people to walk away with the feeling that virtually anything is possible or any adversity can be handled.
