Some of craft brewing’s biggest names—Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Bill Covaleski of Downingtown’s Victory Brewing Company and Greg Koch of Stone Brewing Company—came together in 2003 to form a collaborative group known as “BUFF! Brewers United for Freedom of Flavor” as a way to show the beer industry that they were banding together to make room for craft beer on shelves.
In 2012, they reunited to brew the first-ever edition of their craft beer known as Saison du BUFF in tribute to the ad hoc coalition they had formed.
In 2016, the brew was made at Stone Brewing Company, located in Escondido, Calif. The team harvested the beer’s herbaceous ingredients, including sage, lemon thyme, rosemary and parsley, directly from Stone Farms located just nine miles from the brewery.
This special beer was made in a limited-edition batch, and, luckily for local beer lovers, is now on tap at The Pub at Wegmans in Collegeville (600 Commerce Drive), Glen Mills (100 Applied Bank Blvd.), King of Prussia (1 Village Drive) and Malvern (50 Foundry Way), while supplies last. Get a taste before it’s gone.
