“Distinctive and stylish elegance; impulsive, confident energy” are the words that adorn a wall of Élan, a new boutique in Newtown Square. The stylish new concept comes from boutique pro, Candice Caprice, who owns Per Lei in Media. Élan opened for a soft launch on Aug. 10 and will celebrate its grand opening on Sept. 14 from 6-9 p.m. with champagne, discounts and music.
Caprice prides herself on having a beat on all things fashionable, which she subsequently translates to her clients. The local stylist does everything from closet editing and styling to special occasion and wedding styling. Per Lei, her first boutique, will be celebrating its 10-year anniversary this October. She’s taken all that experience and put it into Élan.
“Since owning Per Lei, one of the things I have learned is that our customers really value the boutique shopping experience and styling expertise,” Caprice says. “However, I noticed a void of affordable boutiques. My goal with Élan was to provide women with the intimate shopping experience they love at an attainable price.”
To meet that demand, Caprice has ensured that most items in the store are under $150. Women’s clothing and accessories are plentiful in the chic, minimalist space. Customers will find everything from wardrobe staples to jewelry, scarves and handbags, plus plenty of on trend options, like belle sleeves and bodysuits. Caprice is also stocking trendy office and home accouterments like agenda planners, coffee tumblers and Capri Blue candles.
“A lot of the jewelry is under $50, most of it is around $20 and $30,” says Olivia McDonnell, a stylist at Élan and its social media manager. “It’s the boutique experience without the guilt. Candice had this idea and asked me what I thought and I realized that there’s a void for anything like it. Sometimes you just want some trendy pieces, but you don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars. You also might not want to go to the mall. So, this kind of combines the best of both worlds.”
