King of Prussia Welcomes New Restaurant J. Alexander’s

The Tennessee-based establishment dishes up hearty American eats in a soothing atmosphere.

Impressively built from the ground up, and featuring a solid menu of hearty American foods—plus the added rice and seaweed-wrapped twist of sushi rolls—Nashville, Tenn.-based J. Alexander’s is the newest entrant in King of Prussia’s ever-growing dining scene.

The contemporary and stylish wood beamed and fieldstone lined space, with its futuristic lighting and copper lined soffits, features a concise, straightforward menu that offers something for everyone. Plus, price points are several notches below many of the area white tablecloth steakhouses.

Starters include fire grilled artichokes and a veg-crunchy grilled chicken ‘Thai Kai’ salad, which mingle with entrees like a killer burger with melted Tillamook cheddar cheese, steaks, and the house specialty: slow roasted prime rib. Other entrees include fresh catches like wasabi-dabbed Ahi tuna filet, meaty Carolina crab cakes, barbecue baby back ribs and slow roasted pork.

The restaurant is replete with small islands of tables suited for two or four guests, with only two tables dedicated for groups up to eight, so it’s better suited for smaller parties. There’s also a quiet outside deck with lounge chairs, though no food is served there.

The rectangular bar and adjoining lounge have already become hot spots for imbibing, though there’s no official happy hour. With a West Coast-centric selection of wines and an impressive list of handcrafted cocktails, it’s no wonder why. Those cocktails do come with a steep price though; martinis run a stiff $14, but they’re served in oversized stemware and come with a generous sidecar.
