Continued from Stephanie Brandow‘s Somers Point escape.
Shore escape: Ocean City (Memorial Day-Labor Day). “My husband and I both grew up coming here. When we knew we were going to buy a Shore house, there was no question.”
Shopping: “We kick off our summer with a shopping trip to Surfer Supplies (3101 Asbury Ave., Ocean City; 609-399-8399, surferssupplies.com). I remember going there as a kid, so it’s such a cool experience bringing my children there to shop.”
Eats: “We have a few favorite places for takeout—like Red’s Jersey Mex Cafe (11th Street and Haven Avenue, Ocean City; 609-399-2272, rojosjerseymex.com). • Voltaco’s (957 West Ave., Ocean City; 609-399-0753, voltacositalianfoods.com) has great hoagies and homemade Italian specials.” • “Piccini’s (1260 West Ave., Ocean City; 609-525-0767) has the best brick-oven pizza.” • “Since Ocean City is dry, if I’m going out with just my husband or with our friends we go to Baia (998 Bay Ave., Somers Point; 609-926-9611, baiarestaurant.com), Steve and Cookies (9700 Amherst Ave., Margate City; 609-823-1163, steveandcookies.com) or Tomatoes (9300 Amherst Ave., Margate; 609-822-7535, tomatoesmargate.com).” • “Bennie’s Bread (1159 Asbury Ave., Ocean City; 609-398-9450, benniesbread.com) is a tiny bakery that has the best breads and desserts.”
Family time: “We take our kids to the indoor pool at the Ocean City Community Center (1735 Simpson Ave., 609-398-6900, ocnj.us), which also has a lot of activities that keep them busy throughout the summer.”
