» Dog’s best friend redux: In late July, Main Line Animal Rescue’s Bill Smith took author, canine crusader and Kohl’s department store heiress Jana Kohl on a tour of some of the region’s ill-reputed puppy mills. Kohl’s visit coincided with the promotion of her new book, Baby’s Rare Breed of Love. The book features Baby, an abused puppy-mill survivor rescued by Kohl, posing with an impressive roster of famous dog lovers. Baby is also the official spokes-dog for Kohl’s cross-country bus tour, dubbed “Baby’s Rare Breed of Love Road Trip—One Dog’s Mission to Stop Puppy Mills.” Kohl will be in town again later this month, this time as the special guest at Main Line Animal Rescue’s annual fundraiser Sept. 27.
