HeadRoom, a Media-based business resource center, is sponsoring an Innovator of the Year competition, powered by PECO. The competition will create a forum for employees, entrepreneurs and inventors throughout the region to spotlight how technology is being used or could be used to produce a product, service or program. The winner will receive a $5,000 grant from PECO and a one-year residency at HeadRoom to support the development of their innovation.
“This competition is part of HeadRoom’s pledge and commitment to create an ecosystem that will promote innovation and propel the growth of start-ups and small businesses,” says HeadRoom cofounder Dan Lievens.
Innovative ideas will be considered and evaluated by a prestigious panel of judges, including John McDonald, PECO vice president of technical services; J. Patrick Killian, commerce director of Delaware County; Karina Sotnik, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania; T.J. Greco, a strategic architect with eBay Enterprise; Bob Simpson, a managing partner at Brinker, Simpson & Company; and JB Braun, publisher of Main Line Today.
Visit www.headroom.net/innovator-of-the-year for an entry form and details on the competition. Entries will be taken through Aug. 10. Semifinalists will be announced in August and invited to a HeadRoom workshop, which is designed to help them prepare and hone their presentations for the judging panel. Finalists will present Shark Tank style, with a winner announced on Sept. 24.
