Host Like a Pro: Upcoming Terrain, West Elm & Sur La Table Workshops Guarantee Holiday Party Success

The area’s finest, local-driven home furnishing shops, Glen MillsTerrain and Philadelphia’s West Elm, are hosting a series of artisan workshops that’ll shape you into the ultimate holiday party-throwing host. Better yet, King of Prussia’s Sur La Table has an impressive arsenal of cooking classes ahead that will help you nab the title of year’s best feast. Act fast and snag your spot(s)—these events will sell out.

Hightail over to Glen Mills on Fri., Dec. 13,  to attend Terrain’s Weck-infused vodka course, which will prove an imbibable education that’ll shake up your dull cocktail hours. The house culinary specialist will demonstrate a few easy infusion recipes, then mix up sample cocktails for a tasting. Cost is $20 per person, reservations required.

Terrain will wrap December with a one-dish cooking course, unfolding Sat., Dec. 28, 2–3 p.m., an event organized to highlight long-running New York Times food columnist, David Tarris,’ new cookbook, One Good Dish. The class will include a crowd-pleasing comfort food instructional and tasting. Cost $15 per person; reservations are required.

This week over at West Elm Philadelphia, on Thurs., Dec. 5, 6–8 p.m., Teaspoons & Petals will team up with Etsy superstar Laura Elle and shortbread-baking goddess Coco Love Homemade for one spectacular holiday gift wrapping class. Event highlights include Teaspoons & Petals’ Alexis Siemons sharing sips of warming tea (you’ll want to know her secrets!), as well as debuting her heirloom handkerchief & teaspoon collection. Coco Love’s Lindsey Love preps to entice taste buds with signature sweet treats, and will even allow pick-up for her cookie samplers at the West Elm event. Admission is free, RSVP here.

On Sun., Dec. 15, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Philly’s West Elm teams up with Kinfolk to host a foraged and found home decor workshop, which will offer tips to spruce up your home (literally!) just in time for holiday dinners, soirees and more.

For the entire month of December, King of Prussia Mall’s Sur La Table will hold daily cooking classes that will assist you in presenting the holiday’s best spread. From a holiday prime rib feast course on Sat., Dec. 7, to a tamale workshop on Mon., Dec. 9, an elegant hors d’oeuvres session on Sat., Dec. 14, and a holiday candies and confections class on Sat., Dec. 21, your skill sets have never looked so sharp.
