» Gardens of Eden: Anyone with an appreciation for natural beauty should grab a copy of Gale Nurseries: Four Generations of Garden Excellence, a new compilation of the extraordinary body of work the Gwynedd-based company has created over the past 40 years. “When I first thought of the idea for the book, I imagined it would be a project that would serve to honor the memory of my father and preserve our work—at least in pictures and words—for future generations,” says Gale Nurseries owner Chuck Gale. “Private gardens are usually [just that]. I’m thrilled that clients allowed us to photograph them and share them with others.” It was Gale’s grandfather, Charles, who started the business in the mid-1930s. His son, Charlie, continued in his father’s footsteps, reviving Gale Nurseries with his cousin after World War II. Then Chuck joined his dad, designing some of the most magnificent estate gardens on the Main Line. Chuck’s daughter, Christine, now works with her father, ensuring that the business carries on for at least another generation.
