» Garden hopping: Looking for some design inspiration for your outdoor spaces? Then you won’t want to miss the sixth annual Festival of Gardens on Sept. 11. Hosted by Barclay Friends, a continuing-care community in West Chester, the event features a walking tour of more than 15 private gardens throughout the borough of West Chester.
With more than 500 attendees last year, the tour has become a full-fledged community event. “Many people in the borough use their outdoor areas as an additional living space,” says Shannon Heverin, development assistant at Barclay Friends.
At each garden, either the homeowners or volunteers will be available to answer questions about the design. Proceeds from the festival—which also includes an uncommon plant sale at Barclay Friends from 2 to 4 p.m.—benefit the horticultural therapy program at the community.
10 a.m.-3 p.m. $20 in advance; $25 day of the event. 700 N. Franklin St., West Chester; (610) 696-5211, bf.kendal.org.
