» Country living: Spend Oct. 3 touring some of the most beautiful homes in Chester County at the 69th annual Chester County Day. This year’s tour features 20 properties, including a renovated barn from a dairy farm that dates back to 1877; a 1760 fieldstone springhouse and slaughter shed converted into a lovely residence; an award-winning winery and its original log home; and a stunning horse farm. Among the more current homes, one ’90s gem has all the charm of something historic, with a beautiful brick exterior, plus Depression-era glass, quilts and pottery inside.
All properties on the tour are located along the numerous scenic roads that wind through Chester County’s northwestern section, from Exton to Elverson. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 the day of the tour. VIP tickets are $100 each and include a preview reception catered by Vickers Tavern, a gourmet lunch from Jimmy Duffy Caterers, and access to a special lounge area.
Chester County Day is organized by the Women’s Auxiliary to the Chester County Hospital. Over the years, the event has raised more than $3.6 million.
