It’s been five years since Tara Dugan opened Scout & Annie in Kennett Square. Since then, Kennett’s retail scene has continued to thrive. This month, Dugan unveils her second retail venture, worKS, a collective of artisans and curators who specialize in fashion, jewelry, leather goods, artwork, antiques, furniture and more. “I tapped into my network of local vendors and asked them if they wanted to join me,” says Dugan. “The response was overwhelming.”
The mix features Chairloom, a custom upholstery-and-furniture designer based in Ardmore (pictured); Old City furniture store Conversion; Malena’s Vintage Boutique in West Chester; a foodie-themed Downingtown clothing company called Pyknic; Malvern’s Zoet Bathlatier apothecary and candle shop; Devon vintage-furniture supplier Eastcote Lane; and Chadds Ford’s Arden + James, known for its leather goods. “We’re going to focus on custom furniture like porch swings, chairs and ottomans,” says Chairloom’s Molly Andrews Burke. “I was considering opening a second location in Philadelphia, but this seemed like a much better fit.”
