Paoli-based interior decorator Sarah Hermans took home first place in the Decorator of the Year category at the 42nd annual Decorating Den Interiors Conference, held in Phoenix, Ariz., this May. Hermans beat out 250 other participants from across the country, wowing a judges panel comprised of editors from more than 30 top shelter magazines, including Better Homes & Gardens, House Beautiful and Traditional Home.
Hermans’ award-winning entry was a living room in Blue Bell, which she transformed from cluttered to sophisticated with neutral colors like blue-gray on the walls, a luxurious chocolate-brown chaise, and a brown-and-cream patterned rug. “It’s nice to know that you’re admired by peers and people in the industry,” says Hermans.
But she’s even more thrilled that her client is so satisfied. “I’m back working on their family room now,” Hermans says.
