The Truth Behind Cosmetic Facial Procedures: Eyes

Brightening (and tightening) up your eyes can improve your look, but be sure to divulge previous medical history to your physician.

Erasing lines is great—just don’t erase your medical history. “Before I perform any surgery on the eyes, it’s critical to know if the patient has had any prior procedures on them,” says Dr. David Singer of Surgical Specialists in Paoli and West Chester. Thyroid problems, dry-eye syndrome, diabetes and LASIK surgery may affect the patient’s ability to heal after surgery. “Have an honest conversation with a qualified physician about your options,” he says. “The goal isn’t just to look younger, it’s to look as natural as possible.”
