Sister Donna Watto, RSM, Vice President of Mission Integration, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital

Share

When Sister Donna Watto began working with Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital’s Adopt A Family in 1984, the program worked with 20 families. Under Watto’s care, Adopt A Family has grown to include 106.

Watto works with churches to identify families in need, then coordinates the hospital staff’s efforts to buy warm clothing, coats, shoes, school uniforms and gift cards to grocery stores. Year after year, we hear stories of how a seemingly simple gift and gesture of kindness can touch a family so deeply. A young boy was beyond thrilled to receive, among other gifts, a small Christmas tree—his first. With Sister Donna’s guidance, we go beyond the hospital walls to meet community needs.
