Drs. William Brown (pictured), Michael Carnuccio, Christopher Schreier and Inez Stoltzfus Ingleside Medical Associates, Thorndale

Nominated by Lisa A. Kazanjian, Director of Marketing and Physician Outreach, Brandywine Hospital

Fifteen years ago, Dr. William Brown went to Brazil to provide much-needed medical care to children, adults and seniors. Brown ended up adopting an entire village, returning with Dr. Inez Stoltzfus to care for its residents.

Three years later, Dr. Michael Carnuccio and Dr. Christopher Schreier embraced a village in Senegal. Every year since, Ingleside’s physicians and staff have traveled to those villages to provide medical care and health education to the thousands of people who flock to the clinics.

The Ingleside team has brought about real change. When they first arrived, the villages didn’t have running water. “Without it, medical care was nonexistent,” says Brown. “By working with local missionary and civic organizations, we’ve managed to transform these areas into the agricultural projects they are today—complete with a school and a church.”
