Interior Designer Lisa Stone
The Main Line may be home, but Rosemont’s Lisa Stone has crafted stunning interiors in houses from Washington, D.C., to Wyoming over her 23-year career. Clients have always appreciated her commitment to unique ideas that truly reflect their tastes and styles. “Every room should have its own personal stamp that looks like no other,” says Stone.
My personal decorating style is … a thoughtful and unexpected eclectic mix of modern, traditional and antique furnishings with Asian influences.
My favorite room in my house is … my living room, which is always a canvas in progress where I love to exercise my creativity.
My most prized possession is … a beautiful, unique pair of alabaster lamps that belonged to my grandfather. Past designers who inspire me are … Billy Baldwin and David Hicks. The design advice I love to give is … dare to be different. Focus on your dreams and goals. Trust in yourself and your designer. Follow your heart with things you like and dislike. And most of all, be patient, have fun and enjoy the process.
I couldn’t design without … all neutral colors. But only because they’re the necessary glue needed to hold together all the wonderful colors I love.
Design elements I love to incorporate into a space are … comfortable seating, layered lighting, a great sound system, collections of books, wonderful artwork, interesting objects, exotic orchids and lush bowls of moss.
My favorite room to design is … all of them. I can’t resist the unique challenge of designing different rooms in different homes in different parts of the country.
My definition of good taste is … having the confidence to express your own personal style without falling prey to the fad of the moment.
The three words that best sum up my design style are … sophisticated, inviting and timeless—plus comfortable and interesting.
The best part of my job is … being fortunate enough to be able to work passionately at the craft I love and adore most. I take such joy in knowing that I’ve made a significant difference in how my clients feel about their home. Their expressions of happiness and gratitude are, for me, the ultimate reward.
