“Gwen Smith oversaw programs that helped Crozer earn the American Hospital Association’s prestigious Foster G. McGaw Prize for Excellence in Community Service. Those programs benefit thousands of people in Delaware County. A former nurse, Gwen still works at local nursing homes and pitches in at Springfield Hospital when staffing is tight. She oversees a parish-nursing program that brings health information to local churches. She also conducts health fairs for churchgoers. A native of Chester, Gwen established a mentorship program at Chester High School, providing students with quality healthcare work experiences that help them find success after graduation.”
