Greener Partners’ Farm Explorer™ Debuts at Nectar Restaurant

Eating healthy isn’t just a personal endeavor, it one our children have to understand as well. Greener Partners and Nectar Restaurant come to the rescue, teaching children and parents the value of local, sustainable and nutritious eating habits.

It is sometimes difficult to encourage children to eat healthy and make good choices about the food they eat. Greener Partners, a leader in the Delaware Valley’s sustainable farming movement, will unveil a satellite garden designed to teach kids about growing, cooking and eating healthfully.

Greener Partners’ Farm Explorer is a living, hands-on mobile farm that lets youth and families dig in and connect with food from seed to plate. A 24-foot custom-built trailer, Farm Explorer is equipped with garden beds and a mobile kitchen. From school yards to senior centers, the Farm Explorer will travel directly to communities to bring a fun, hands-on curriculum about gardening and ecology, seasonal eating and how to prepare simple, healthy recipes.

The Farm Explorer will be on display at Nectar Restaurant, located at 1091 Lancaster Ave. in Berwyn, on Sunday, April 7, between noon-2 p.m. Make a reservation if you’re interested in teaching your kids about healthy eating while dining on chef Patrick Feury’s Asian-inspired, French-infused cuisine.

Chef Feury and his team are passionate about sustainable practices. Last year, he and his partner Henry Chu installed solar panels that enable the restaurant to tap into the sun’s energy for power. Additionally, the chef sources ingredients from local farms to minimize the restaurant’s carbon footprint. He even grows his own herbs and vegetables in a garden in Nectar’s parking lot, and composts using food waste to nurture the soil.

The schedule for this tasty, educational event includes complimentary champagne and light fare starting at noon, with the unveiling ceremony unfolding at 1 p.m.

To RSVP for this invitation-only fun, family experience, email Laura Vernola at Laura.Vernola@GreenerPartners.org. The Farm Explorer was made possible through a partnership with Independence Blue Cross Foundation and The Junior League of Philadelphia. For more information, visit greenerpartners.org.
