Your Home Improvement Questions Answered

Question: I’m renovating my master bathroom, and the choices for fixtures and brass are overwhelming. Where should I begin?

Answer: Charlie Haines, sales and marketing director, U.S. Supply Co./Lavish (Ardmore and Conshohocken) Customers need to decide what type of atmosphere they want in the bathroom. Is it primarily going to be a functional room, or are you envisioning a haven of rest and relaxation comparable to a spa?

The room needs to be laid out in the most efficient way so it has flow. The amount of square footage determines the size of the shower and vanity—or if there’s room for extras like a freestanding tub. Deciding on the color of the toilet and tub is relatively simple, since most people choose neutral colors like bone, white or biscuit. With brass (faucets, shower heads, accessories, etc.), there are literally thousands of styles and finishes. The Kohler and Grohe brands are top sellers for us. Our Ardmore showroom has numerous displays so you can experience how the products work.
