Question: Is it possible to give my home’s interior a fresh look on a tight budget?

Answer: Interior designer Lisa Furey of Lisa Furey Interiors, Wayne (lisafureyinteriors.com) It absolutely is possible. Many interior designers can be hired by the hour. I offer a “Design Doctor” service: I make a house call and, for an hourly fee, provide my design expertise, offer quick fixes and help to solve design dilemmas. If you’re intent on making it a do-it-yourself project, have a detailed plan in mind so you won’t spend unnecessarily when you shop. Rearranging a room’s furniture is a great way to bring a new look to the space. You can get the biggest bang for your buck by putting fresh paint on the walls; pick colors from existing furniture or accessories in the room. Another simple trick is a three-way bulb—lighting can instantly change the room’s mood. And buy high-quality items. It may cost you more up-front, but you’ll save in the long run by not having to replace things so frequently.
