News & Notes
» Worth the trip: At St. Peters Bakery and Café (3441 St. Peters Road, Saint Peters Village, 610-469-7501), pastry guru Peter Scarola churns out to-die-for pastries, breads and cakes, including the Trufflebert—hazelnut and milk chocolate crunch cake with milk chocolate mousse. If it’s anything like a similar creation I sampled there last fall, you’ll be swooning.
» Get the party started: DiFabio’s 9th Street Catering and David Frank Entertainment have set up a “total event-planning center” in Bryn Mawr (700 E. Haverford Road, 610-520-7300), offering à la carte services from DJs and other vendor referrals to full-scale private party and wedding planning.
» Opening this fall: Get set for Maia, the bi-level foodie haven from Nectar’s dream team (plus one). Downstairs, look for a craft beer retail space, an espresso bar, a market packed with specialty take-home items, and a sit-down café. Upstairs, expect a seafood-heavy, European small plate menu, lounge with full bar, and an outdoor area with fire pit and gas lamps.
