Elissa Bloom Talks Style Faves and the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator

Elissa Bloom, executive director of Philadelphia Fashion Incubator and founder of Elissa Bloom Home Bryn Mawr, shares her fashion tips.

Her Style: Stylish, artsy and eclectic. Think hats and heels.

Her Fashion Roots: My mom had wonderful style. Our weekend entertainment was going to the mall and traipsing through department stores along with shopping local boutiques. In high school, I worked at a high-end fashion boutique called L.H. Rogers in Salem, Massachusetts, that carried the most fashionable American and European apparel. After college, I attended Paris Fashion Institute, and there was no turning back.

Indispensable Wardrobe Item: Black leggings and tank tops from Uniqlo, the foundation for many of my outfits.

Favorite Places to Shop: Generations Reimagined Resale in Merion Station, Main Line Fashionista in Paoli, Bra Spectrum in Bryn Mawr and Neiman Marcus. And, of course, I love supporting local designers. Today, I’m wearing an Elmira Vandenberg jacket and Paper Shaper by Julie earrings.

Fashion Icon: Any of the timeless Advanced Style women celebrated by Ari Seth Cohen on Instagram @advancedstyle.

What She Loves About Her Work: At the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator, I work with fashion design talent, develop them into creative entrepreneurs and make a difference in their business trajectories. With Elissa Bloom Home, I bring joy into people’s homes with fun and colorful home décor with personality.

Best Fashion Buy Ever: A beautiful coat I bought in Hong Kong.

Thoughts on Aging: Most of the time, I feel 15 years younger than my biological age. We can be ageless by staying curious, creative and engaged with the world.
