Dr. Mary-Elaine Perry

Assistant Vice President for Student Development and Title IX Coordinator, Saint Joseph’s University

Teacher, fashion designer, lawyer. Dr. Mary-Elaine Perry dreamed of being all of those things. But she ended up becoming one of the most influential people at Saint Joseph’s University.

Perry is part of the critical incident response team that helps students and the university deal with crises and tragedies. As the Title IX coordinator, she educates students and their parents about campus sexual violence, including the dangers of binge drinking. When a sexual assault is reported, Perry facilitates the investigation. “My directive is to be fair, equitable and timely in addressing reported incidents,” she says. “I’m always concerned for the rights of women, but I also do what’s right for men and make sure they are treated fairly.”
