Don't Miss This: Pre-Valentine's Day Tequila University at Verdad Restaurant

Join the restaurant’s “For the Love of Tequila” for three culinary demonstrations.

Love is in the air at Bryn Mawr’s Verdad Restaurant & Tequila Bar. A love of tequila, that is.

Join Verdad at a special pre-Valentine’s Day Tequila University this Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 7–9 p.m. During the “For the Love of Tequila” event, Chef Nick Farina will lead three culinary demonstrations and a tutored tequila tasting by renowned local spirits expert Michael Walsh of Majestic Wine & Spirits.

Tequilas to be presented include Chinaco Blanco, which has a smooth and fresh taste; Chinaco Reposado, featuring an aged flavor with fruit and floral notes; and Chinaco Añejo, which contains a smooth and smoky taste similar to cognac. All of these tequilas, Walsh assures us, “will get everyone’s Valentine’s Day juices flowing.”

To further inspire romance, Chef Farina will present freshly shucked oysters with “pomegranate pearls” during a cava reception from 7–7:15 p.m. During the tutored tequila tasting, Farina will prepare his new Spanish sushi rolls, which feature sushi-grade Hamachi, avocado, chili peppers, grilled pineapple and sticky rice. The class will culminate in a frozen chocolate truffle demonstration, where Farina will freeze a warm chocolate tequila ganache utilizing liquid nitrogen and then crack the frozen exterior, leaving the boozy molten chocolate center to ooze out.

The cost to attend “For the Love of Tequila” is $35 plus tax and gratuity. Students: reserve your spot now by calling the restaurant! 818 W. Lancaster Ave., Bryn Mawr, (610) 520-9100, www.verdadrestaurant.com.
