Celebrating the 125th anniversary of its founding as a land-grant institution in 1891, Delaware State University has progressively grown and evolved into one of the nation’s premier Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The university’s success can be explained by its undergraduate and graduate academic programs that prepare students for the global marketplace, an ever-expanding portfolio of cutting-edge research pursuits, and a growing global presence.
The academic character of the university has a heavy emphasis in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) area. Several major research centers—including the Delaware Institute for Science and Technology’s Optical Science Center for Applied Research (OSCAR) and the Delaware Center for Neuroscience Research—are based on campus. Students in DSU’s Aviation Program benefit from the university being the only HBCU to have its own fleet of airplanes. Project Propel Empowered by SAP prepares business students with critical skills in demand by companies in the SAP ecosystem. For social work majors, DSU offers the only nationally accredited bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in Delaware.
In addition to its main campus in Dover, DSU also has locations in Georgetown and in Wilmington, where an expanded New Castle presence allows graduate students convenient, flexible master’s degree program options.
