Craft Beer Meets Craft Jerky

West Chester-based Righteous Felon Jerky Cartel create beer-infused jerky.

West Chester-based contraband of cooks, Righteous Felon Jerky Cartel, are continuing to pave the way of the local cured-beef renaissance with their latest flavor launch.

Now joining the indie purveyors’ tough crowd is the Victorious B.I.G. (beer-infused gastronomy) release, a collaboration with their Downingtown neighbor, Victory Brewing Company. Crafted as an all-natural jerky infused with Victory’s Storm King stout, this marks the jerky-makers’ first-ever beer-infused variety, which pays homage to their hometown (Downingtown!) and nods to their loyalty to the local craft beer scene.

Once you chomp down on the Victorious B.I.G. small-batch, you’re introduced to an addictive mix of all the classic Storm King characteries—roasted malts, sweet malts and pings of rich espresso. A lingering, subtle black pepper finish combats the overall sweetness of the cured Black Angus beef, which is religiously sourced from Maryland’s Roseda Farm.

This latest Righteous Felon recipe was conceptualized and tested since July 2013, as the band of seven friends (Brendan, Michael and Kyle Cawley, Tucker Rinehart, Kyle Whitmore, Geoff Wolk and Bill Cohen) poured their creative juices together to perfect the final product—which hit snack shelves on May 17, with the classified combination of the stout, its wort and all-natural seasonings.

Grab your share of big-in-flavor Victorious B.I.G., available at $7.99 per pack, at Victory Brewing Co., Di Bruno Bros., Fair Food Farmstand, Kimberton Whole Foods, and online.
