Coming Soon to Wayne: New Cheese & Charcuterie Store + Open Kitchen

Chef Christine Doherty Kondra will offer her expert advice at the new shop.

Fans of all things cheese and meat will have a new destination this summer. Chef Christine Doherty Kondra has announced plans to open Cornerstone Cheese & Charcuterie at 1 West Avenue in the heart of Wayne’s business district.

The focus will be on small-batch products sourced during Doherty Kondra’s extensive travels locally and throughout the country. Cornerstone will also produce a series of sausages and patés made in-house alongside breads, crackers, pickles and mustards.

Cornerstone will feature a state-of-the-art open kitchen and plans to host top chefs, artisan farmers and other culinary contributors for classes and events. “I wanted to bring together the best of the best under one roof, then invite all our talented chef friends and artisan farmers to come and share their knowledge in our open kitchen,” Doherty Kondra says.

“I want to create a place where people can come and purchase amazing cheese and charcuterie, bring it home for a special event, or enjoy it right in the shop at our open kitchen. We even welcome customers to bring in a bottle of wine and maybe meet friends or their significant other at the end of the day.”

Doherty Kondra and her talented team will offer customers expert advice on everything from wine and beer pairings to how much to purchase for an at-home event or intimate dinner.

“I want this to be a place people can come and unwind at end of the day,” Doherty Kondra said. “That’s why we’re creating a warm, inviting setting, where people are comfortable sitting around the counter. It’s reminiscent of the best of a rustic European setting—with great food, friends, and an enveloping atmosphere.”
