Col. Teresa Wolfgang has two very different careers. This past June, she became executive director of the Women’s Resource Center in Wayne. She also served with the U.S. Army in Desert Storm and Desert Shield and Iraq as a Company Commander and Afghanistan as a Battalion Commander in command of more than 300 people in 14 provinces.
What was a turning point in your career?
Sept. 11, when I decided to get back into military service. Civil Affairs Command gave me the opportunity to serve my country. It led me to the job that I have now.
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
In the military, I was selected to be battalion commander, and I took my battalion to Afghanistan. I was also selected to be a mentor for Project Artemis, out of Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University. It’s a program for 20 Afghan women. They learn business skills and receive a mentor for two years.
What have been your biggest challenges?
Balancing my Army and civilian careers. I do my military time on the weekends. Then again, life would be boring if I didn’t have both outlets.
