Join Wayne’s Ella’s American Bistro on March 19 for a pairing dinner celebrating the wines of California. The festivities start at 6:30 p.m. with a sparkling wine reception followed by a five-course dinner at 7 p.m.
Wines will be poured and explained by Michael Walsh of Majestic Wine and Spirits and Henry Greenly of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits. Chef Kenneth Kunz will also be speaking about the food and how it complements each wine.
Start off your meal with an amuse bouche of crab and pear salad served with Girard Sauvignon Blanc, 2013 from Napa Valley. The next course features rare seared salmon, carrot-fennel slaw and smoked almonds expertly paired with a 2012 Joseph Carr Chardonnay hailing from Sonoma County. The second course of Le Puy green lentils, duck confit and red beets is complemented by a pour of 2012 Josh Pinot Noir.
Continue your trip through California with an entrée of braised short rib, root vegetables and buttered egg noodles served alongside a 2011 The Calling Cabernet Sauvignon produced in the Alexander Valley by Rio Lago Vineyard.
Save room for dessert because it will be impossible to resist the chocolate goat cheese cheesecake topped with a bittersweet chocolate sauce and tart cherry. The final wine of the night is Cigar Zin Red Zinfandel, 2012 from Lodi, California.
The dinner is $70 per person plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Ella’s at 610-964-3552 or online.
