This year’s guide also takes into account the situational dynamics of eating out. Date night? Not a problem. Babysitter bailed at the last minute? We’ve got you covered. Special event? Consider it done. Whether it’s a cozy table for two or a seasonal alfresco getaway, you’ll find what you’re looking for among the 30 stars—rising stars included—profiled this month.
“We sampled a bounty of BYOBs, keeping an eye on service and ambiance, too,” says Malone, explaining the selection process. “We then convened a roundtable of sorts, tightening our lengthy list of worthy options to the best and the brightest in each category. Kudos to Ronna Dewey, Nathan Greenwood, Michele Kornegay and Ed Williams for curating the final 30 destinations.”
And as our dining scene continues to expand, the excuses to hit the road have multiplied exponentially. From West Grove to Manayunk, Media to Honey Brook, Eagleville to Glen Mills and beyond, every one of these spots is well worth the drive.
“We were especially impressed by how our local chefs continue to create and innovate in the kitchen, drawing us in with honest and inspiring cuisine—no bar required,” Malone says. “Just bring along your favorite libations to pair with what will no doubt become your new favorite dishes.”
Have a safe and delicious February.
