Local Athlete
Brendan Hansen
Almost everything you need to know about Olympic medalist and Havertown hero Brendan Hansen can be found at Brendanhansenonline.com, the unofficial website created by diehard fans who appreciate “his shape and form” as much as his talent in the water. In case you haven’t heard, the swimmer won three medals in the 2004 Olympics. And if all goes as planned, this time next year we’ll be cheering him on in the 2008 Games.

Eagles’ surprise run with Jeff Garcia
Though the 2007-’08 season is right around the corner, former Eagles QB Jeff Garcia deserves another hearty round of applause for his extraordinary efforts last year. Without Garcia, the season likely would’ve ended somewhere around game nine. Instead, we nearly wound up with another NFC championship. We’ll miss you, Jeff. And thankfully your new team,

Party Band
Dragonfly
Most party bands have a similar formula: two to three female vocalists up front, a horn section and a playlist packed with R&B, Motown and other popular dance music. Dragonfly plays the tunes people dig but don’t hear all the time—and they’re interactive without being cheesy. Fans love the “stump the band” segment, where guests call out song requests. Currently Dragonfly books their own gigs based mostly on word-of-mouth, making them a less expensive alternative to more established bands. If you haven’t heard them, you’re missing out. Sometimes the most meaningful moments in life happen when you least expect them. That’s what happened to a lot of people on
during the homestretch of the 60-mile walk. The beeps, cheers, hoots and thumbs-up shared by drivers and walkers were truly inspiring. And in nearby neighborhoods, residents lined the curbs offering an equal show of support. Simply awesome. komen.org
