Besito to Give Ardmore a Kiss of Mexican Food

The restaurant is slated to open in Suburban Square on Monday, Oct. 26.

Besito, an upscale Mexican chain, is making its Pennsylvania debut on Monday, Oct. 26, in Ardmore’s Suburban Square.

Meaning “little kiss” in Spanish, Besito was conceived by restaurateur John Tunney III. He founded the brand in 2006 after traveling extensively throughout Mexico to establish a connection with its people, cuisine and culture. Believing that each restaurant location is a unique extension of the original vision, Besito strives to delight its guests with the warmth of a private hacienda offering thoughtful details and authentic dishes.

The Ardmore location will be the brand’s seventh restaurant, complementing additional outposts along the East Coast in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and Florida.

Hospitality and warmth are at the heart of the Besito experience, said Tunney. Our passion for extraordinary food is what inspires our brand, but it’s the Ardmore community who will breathe life into the restaurant.”

Using only fresh, house-made ingredients, Besito’s cuisine showcases an intimate knowledge of central and southern Mexican traditions. The Ardmore menu will feature signature aperitivos (appetizers) like tableside-prepared guacamole en molcajete and panquesito de jaiba—crispy jumbo lump crab cake with roasted habanero cream sauce and corn. Entrées will include enchiladas de mole poblano—shredded chicken baked in mole poblano with queso fresco, onions and cilantro.

In addition to an affordable, Mexican menu, Besito will offer a well-rounded selection of cervezas, sangria and creative cocktails, including top-notch margaritas, along with a full bar stocked with over 75 imported, world-class tequilas.

It will boast more than 150 seats, as well as a private dining room. An outdoor patio, complete with a fireplace, will accommodate an additional 30 diners. Upon entering, guests will gravitate to the restaurant’s rustic, dramatic interior. It incorporates a traditional feel with some street touches, from its mood-setting candle wall and hand-selected Mexican artifacts to its colorfully striped serape-style fabrics and aged barn wood furniture accents.

“Besito will be a fantastic addition not only to Suburban Square but also to the entire Main Line dining scene,” said Mark Curran, Suburban Square’s general manager. “A refined Mexican restaurant is exactly what this area needs, and we can’t wait for them to open in October.”
