Celebrating eight years of success, the 65-seat Tiramisu remains a consistently satisfying best-kept secret just a stone’s throw from Berwyn’s busy train station. Throughout the menu, chef/owner Shawn Delbello, a Johnson & Wales University graduate, demonstrates a rustic flair for incorporating the enhanced flavors of Roman-Jewish cuisine, including earthy truffles, crisp wines and pungent herbs.
Homemade matzo accompanies stellar apps like sautéed artichokes, and mozzarella topped with roasted peppers, basil and tomatoes. The salads are colorful and crisp. But it’s the chicken dishes that truly elevate the menu, especially the lightly breaded Pollo Sofia, the mushroom-rich Rothschild, and the Mediterranean-influenced Pollo Romano.
Ribbon-thin pappardelle and twirlable fettuccini are made on site, and pasta is also well represented in the form of gnocchi pomodoro, lobster ravioli and orecchiette con tonno (tuna). Rounding out the options: veal, fish and premium cuts of beef and lamb, plus a few specialità della casa.
Divided into two dining rooms, Tiramisu exudes intimacy. Crisp white tablecloths and vintage china add to the experience, as do weekend cocktail and wine lists at this former BYOB.
