Berwyn’s Lobster Roll Hub Expands to Cape May

The famed seafood restaurant heads from the Main Line to the shore line.

Quincy’s Original Lobster Rolls in Berwyn has become the local surefire ticket to New England–quality seafood 365 days a year. Following the success of the indulgent hub’s first location, which debuted on the Main Line in early 2014, the band of 10 friends/co-owners has decided to expand the brand to one of New Jersey’s southernmost points: Cape May. As of mid-May 2015, East Coast vacationers may now scout out Quincy’s across the bridge.

We chit-chatted with co-owner Jeremy McCann to discuss what customers can expect as Quincy’s takes its operation down the shore.

Main Course: We recently heard the news about the debut of your second-ever location,  in Cape May. Aside from the obvious shore ties, what drew you to this specific spot in New Jersey?

Jeremy McCann: We looked into all of the major towns along the Jersey shoreline when we initially began scouting potential locations. We felt that Cape May was a great fit because it’s a good mix of people who reside in Cape May year round as well as folks from the tri-state area in town on vacation.

What’s really been neat is dealing and interacting with the folks in the Cape May community. They’re extremely supportive and they’ve completely embraced us and our mission. We absolutely feel like we belong here.

You couldn’t possibly deny the classic lobster roll to guests at your new location. However, what can customers, new and old, expect to change at the new location once it opens?

Well, for one, we’ll have a fully equipped kitchen, which is a luxury we don’t currently have at the Berwyn spot. This will enable us to feature new menu items in addition to the already existing classics our customers have come to know and love. Fried clams, french fries and chicken fingers will be available for those looking for an option that doesn’t involve lobster. Customers will have the option to add fries and a fountain drink to their roll in place of the classically offered chips and bottled drink options. We’ll also have poutine on the menu in Cape May. While it’s a little off the reservation in the way we do things and not exactly New England in origin, we think it’ll be a big hit down here.

Okay, spill it. We just have to know about Quincy’s newest menu item—crab rolls!

We’ve been working with different recipes based off of customer feedback. We’ve used different sauces and sourced different crabs to find the optimal flavor combination. Most recently, they’ve been served with a sassy horseradish sauce and they’re getting some great reviews. They’re not permanently on the menu yet, so they’re available for a limited time right now.

One last question: Where can we find you in Cape May?

We’re located at 707 Beach Avenue in Cape May. We’re right next to a Rita’s Water Ice and directly across the street from the Cape May Convention Center.

Find Quincy’s Original Lobster Rolls locally at their premier location: 414 Swedesford Rd., Berwyn, (484) 328-3905.
