Q&A: Vida Fashionista’s Davida Janae

The Coatesville native, 76ers dancer and blogger shares her personal style.

About Her Blog:

I’ve always been interested in fashion. I used to make my own clothes and put on fashion shows for my dad. I decided to start the blog Wild Thing because a lot of people had been asking me where I got my clothes. About a year later, I changed it to Vida Fashionista. Vida is my nickname and means “life” in Spanish, so my blog name also translates to the “life of a fashionista.”

Personal Style:

When I first started, my style was more in your face and bold. Now I feel like I’ve tried to be more classic and timeless, while still mixing in my prints to have my personality shine through.

Go-To Places to Shop:

Zara, Old Navy and H&M. I shop in pieces rather than outfits. I build my wardrobe and a bunch of different outfits from that, rather than building a whole outfit from head to toe.

Favorite Pieces for Summer:

White jeans, maxi skirts and dresses.

Favorite Item in Her Closet:

I’m a bag person, so I’d have to say the Chanel bag I got for my 30th birthday.

Style Icons:

Olivia Palermo, Audrey Hepburn and Miroslava Duma.

Most Recent Addition to Her Closet:

White distressed Levi’s 711 skinny ankle jeans.

Every Woman Needs:

A denim jacket, classic black slacks, black or nude pumps, and a white T-shirt. You can do lots of things with these pieces.

Her Best Fashion Advice:

Shop smarter, not harder. You don’t have to buy designer labels to look good. It’s all about being confident in what you’re wearing.
