Her style: Feminine, sexy, sophisticated, elegant and somewhat risky.
Fashion roots: I was born into a stylish family. I learned all my core fashion lessons from my mother. My grandmother had only two evening dresses when she went out in the ’50s, and she always turned heads. Fashion for us meant living life through the lens of style, which is something I teach my own children. Look your best no matter the occasion, carry on with confidence, and truly understand how to dress, look and present.
Indispensable wardrobe item: My well-fitting, black leather jacket—the one item in my closet that will go with absolutely everything.
Favorite places to shop: Anthropologie. I really like Marlyn Schiff in Haverford for their unique jewelry.
Fashion icon: I love to pull ideas from fashion through the decades, and I especially love the casual and glam old Hollywood era with today’s innovation and tailoring. When in doubt, I call my mom and ask her if I can wear A with B. I also absolutely love the fashions of Bridgerton, the Netflix series set in Britain’s Regency era.
Best fashion find: The 1970s handmade white marabou dress jacket my mother gave me. It’s an instant dose of Marilyn Monroe.
Thoughts on aging: I’m still not thrilled about it, but I will say that aging gives you so many more rewards and gifts in life than you’ll ever have in your 20s. Aging—especially for women—gives you a stronger sense of life purpose, identity and sense of style.
Indispensable accessory: My Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote. It goes with me everywhere and contains everything from my wallet to my kids’ snacks.
Makeup tip every woman can appreciate: Focus on quality skincare. Get your skin in tip-top shape, and your makeup will look better and more expensive. You’ll also need less of it.
Favorite fragrance: Hermès’ Eau des Merveilles, a gift from my mother years ago.
Fashion no-no: Unironed clothes, unhemmed pants and unpolished shoes.
Why fashion is important: It’s a representation of you. It shows self-respect, respect for others and respect for establishments one may frequent. It’s also a mood booster. The easiest way to feel confident is through a great outfit. I teach my kids style and confidence through dressing.
