Delaware County’s Jeanette Limas Launches Spring Fashion Collection

The “Making the Cut” finalist gets ready to share her new Alma Rosa collection in Philadelphia this month.

In 2022, designer Jeanette Limas brought Delaware County national recognition when she placed fourth on the esteemed Making the Cut reality series, hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum and fashion mentor Tim Gunn. The Dominican-born fashionista got her start in the industry back in her home country when she won the Young Designer of the Year award, which opened the door for a scholarship to New York’s Parsons School of Design. She launched her namesake brand in 2015 and is set to parade her seventh collection, Alma Rosa, down the runway on September 24 at Philly’s Bridgette Mayer Gallery. We sat down with Limas to discuss her Spring-Summer 2025 collection, which she describes as her “most personal and emotionally resonant work” to date.

Limas calls Alma Rosa her "most personal and emotionally resonant work” to date.

MLT: Where did you find inspiration for this collection?

JL: The inspiration for my Spring-Summer 2025 collection Alma Rosa comes from a deep emotional exploration. I wanted to create a poetic narrative—with each piece draped in memories and reconstructed from stories suspended in time—that explores new possibilities of beauty and construction to empower the wearer. With Alma Rosa, I invite you to not just wear fashion, but to experience it, to feel a connection to something deeper, and to step into each day with the strength and grace that my pieces are designed to inspire.

MLT: What sets your style apart?

JL: Draping is at the heart of my design process. It’s what my brand is known for. I approach each piece with a balance of structure and fluidity, using drapery to create designs that not only tell a story but also evoke a sense of movement and emotion. My background in both drapery and patternmaking allows me to craft garments that are as visually striking as they are meaningful. For me, fashion is more than just clothing. It’s an art form that conveys emotions, memories and dreams through the flow and form of the fabric.

MLT: How did your time on Making the Cut impact your career?

JL: My experience on Making the Cut was transformative. It not only pushed my creative boundaries but also opened doors that I hadn’t anticipated. Being a top finalist and winning two assignments allowed me to reach a global audience, which led to my capsule collections being featured on Amazon Fashion. The show gave me the confidence and platform to take my brand to the next level, and it’s an experience that continues to influence my work today.

MLT: What can people expect from your upcoming fashion show?

JL: The upcoming show will feature around 10 looks from the Alma Rosa collection. People can expect a visually and emotionally compelling presentation. From dramatic evening gowns to understated tailored suits, each design is a tribute to cherished moments, crafted with meticulous attention to detail. I hope that those who wear a Jeanette Limas piece will feel that deep connection and be empowered, elegant and truly themselves in a story that’s uniquely their own.

MLT: Where can tickets for your show be purchased?

JL: There is no charge, and all are encouraged to attend. I love to share my work! You can RSVP at infojeanettelimas@gmail.com. The show will be held at the Bridgette Mayer Gallery at 709 Walnut St. in Philadelphia on September 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
