Rosalie teams up with Van Cleve Bridal and Evening Wear to teach you how to dress for horse races, from the Kentucky Derby to the Radnor Hunt.

The Main Line region loves a good horse race, and we’re patiently awaiting our own race season to kick off with the Point-to-Point at Winterthur on May 7, followed by the Willowdale Steeplechase on May 13 and the Radnor Hunt Races on May 20. But first, the season gets its start just over 700 miles away in Louisville for the Kentucky Derby, happening on May 6.

Before the Derby, you have to learn how to dress for the Derby, and Rosalie has teamed up with Van Cleve Bridal and Evening Wear to teach you everything you need to know. Visit the Wayne restaurant on Thursday, April 20 from noon to 2 p.m. for a fabulous three-course luncheon and fashion show featuring this year’s hottest race looks.

Of course, the perfect horse race look includes an over-the-top headpiece, and Zoya Egan Millinery will be onsite showcasing hats and other adornments that are sure to complete your look for any racing occasion.

What comes first: the hat or the outfit? Some feel it’s easier to start with an eye-catching headpiece and build your outfit from there, while others prefer to custom-make a hat to go along with the right outfit. Deborah Van Cleve will be answering this question, giving you a preview of what to wear for the Kentucky Derby and the races around the Main Line this year.

Once you curate your perfect ensemble, make sure your Kentucky Derby plans include Rosalie’s second annual Derby Day Party. Don your Derby attire and enjoy the race, great food and specialty cocktails (which Rosalie previewed with us here). The event takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 6.
